Just as they’re about 7.8 billion people in the world without identical genetic makeup, so also is the peculiarity of every project we’ve worked on, and it won’t be a cliche if we say “A Wise Woman’s” project is one of such.

Whenever we get a website development project, we follow a list of processes before we begin the project.

  • First, we normally run a project discovery session with the stakeholder(s) to capture and understand the goals they have in mind.
  • Then we get them to send us all assets needed for the project before work commences.
  • Thereafter, we’ll work on the UI/UX designs with limited time for iterations.
  • After which the web developer can start work or work simultaneously with the designer.
  • All these processes won’t start until the client has made payment obviously, but that’s certainly not a priority.

But, with A Wise Woman, a few of these processes were jumped or some didn’t follow the usual process which made the project a little demanding.

“A Wise Woman” is an eCommerce beauty and fashion company based in Lagos. One interesting thing we love about them is that they believe that there’s beauty in everything, and all you need do is look deeper and closer to see it. And truly, we couldn’t agree more with them, because we as well, love to bring out the beauty from things that have been considered anything but beautiful.

A Wise Woman needed a digital agency to help them birth this beautifully crafted vision of theirs, which they had earlier shared with another agency but didn’t quite end well which brought them to us.

And as gardeners that we are, who loves to nurture and give life to businesses and projects. Our journey to tend and nurture this project to establishment started with a beautiful quote from the CEO of A Wise Woman Hub, Damilola Adedeji which goes thus; “The Journey to success is filled with so many learning curves. Start your Journey today”. And truly it was a journey filled with a lot of learning curves.

The journey started with a discovery session with the stakeholders from A Wise Woman alongside our technical team to strategically highlight the goals of the project. Instead of going through the route of creating UI/UX designs for the project, we went straight to Web development, because they were able to get UI/UX designs from the previous agency they had contracted.

“The UI/UX design is out of the way, so the rest of the project should be easy peasy” so we thought. Well, it was later on in the project that we realized that certain pages were not properly designed and some important pages were missing. So, we had to create additional design pages while working simultaneously on the APIs (Application Programming Interface) and implementation.

The technology we used in building A Wise Woman website was Laravel and Vue JS with a separation of concern for both the client and the server sides while the REST API (Representational State Transfer - Application Programming Interface) was implemented.

Laravel was used for the backend as a result of its stability and easy scaffolding of pertinent features to aid the speedy and successful execution of the project. Since A Wise Woman needed to integrate with some third-party solutions, Laravel was used to create the REST API for seamless integration.

Vue JS is a progressive framework used for the frontend. This was used to consume the API as it allows for an easy representation of the already designed UI.

The entire development process required several iterations. At the end of each iteration, our development team ensures that the changes are being tested so as to ensure they fit into the goals and visions of A Wise Woman.

Undoubtedly, A Wise Woman was one of the most demanding jobs we had to do, not in the aspect of the technicality of the development but in the management process, but, despite the hurdles we encountered with the team, we were able to hand over the project smoothly and in one piece. Afterwhich, we did a webmaster training for the technical team on their end, so they can manage the website efficiently without our involvement.

A wise Woman taught us important lessons on project management which have further helped us fine-tune our processes.
